2 Months and 4 days after the second, the third civ3 patch was released and we were right here to share our experiences from the changes along with several Firaxians

[GHOB] when a map is generated, how many resources/luxuries per civ are placed on the map usually?
[Soren_Johnson_Firaxis] there is nothing in 1.21 which would explicitly slow down expansion, but the AI priorities may have shifted elsewhere...

[SirPleb] Are you still looking into the tech trading issue? Are you considering alternatives to the current AI structure to make improvements in that area, or is what we see now intended to be final? (IMO, the tech. rate remains way too fast in 1.21. It is perhaps a bit slower, hard to be sure after just a little testing, but it seems clear it is not much changed from 1.17 at Deity.)
[YuMMz] Firaxis: Have you improved the AI Draft rate, I cannot take their cities because I cannot even get ONE happy person if I do take them. I saw you mention something about this earlier but missed the answer

[allow_us_to_speak] the early expansion was not causing the comp players to be handicapped
[SirPleb] Are you thinking about changing the AIs behavior when it is on the defensive and goes into Communism? Many of us are finding that the AIs "implode" at that point, in effect killing themselves.
[Soren_Johnson_Firaxis] we have definetly improved the AI draft/hurry rate...
[jimmyhealey] Do you had any of your headers to the compressed file, or is it 100% pkware???

[Soren_Johnson_Firaxis] We are happy with the current tech rate (although we always want feedback)... deity games are really off the chart as far as that is concerned, though.

[Thrawn05] Nothing is wrong with Civ3, now with 1.21f.
[Soren_Johnson_Firaxis] the main problem with them going into Communism was that they would hurry production too much, which we have toned down. Our Beta testers didn't think it was a problem in 1.21
[Civ3-Hater] .but civ3 has no clue
[Mike_Breitkreutz_FIRAXIS] Sn00py - No. There is no code in the engine for animationg terrain and color-cycling doesn't work so well in 16bpp

[YuMMz] Firaxis: I am in Communism Late game and every AI refuses to trade luxuries anymore, If I offer them for almost nothing they imediately refuse the deal? I am on good terms with 80% of them any reasons why this might be?

[Mike_Breitkreutz_FIRAXIS] Perhaps they have access to the luxuries already?
[Soren_Johnson_Firaxis] hmmm... i don't think so. Min Research time is supposed to affect outliers and not throttle the speed of the entire game.
[Civ3-Hater] is there any chance to get the civ2-code for making this great game even greater? civ3 went the wrong way!
[notyoueither] I increased min to 8 and max to 60. bumped base cost to 200 at Emperor. Made the ages last a bit.
[Soren_Johnson_Firaxis] Yummz: probably b/c you have a lot more luxuries and cities than they do, so they realize you have a lot more to gain from the trade.
[APerfectGimp] Do you have any plans to allow me to crash airplanes into units, acting like a missile?

[Soren_Johnson_Firaxis] nye: i think adjusting the overall tech cost via the world sizes would be a better way to go...
[|Sn00py] that reminds me, I noticed you added Future Era in the scenario of the editor, what sort of options are you allowing for this, eg. an added Future splash screen (for when you change), added futurisitc cities, etc?

[Mike_Breitkreutz_FIRAXIS] Future Era simply means that you start at the end of the Modern Era with all techs researched.

[YuMMz] Firaxis: Does it make a difference if you get a goodie hut with a Settler/Worker or a Military unit. Might be coincidence but I have gotten Settlers almost 50% more often when I use a worker to get the hut

[Soren_Johnson_Firaxis] yummz: only if swordsmen become upgradable, and i don't see that happening. that path of the upgrade tree was meant to end.

I really get tired to be asked 50 or more times in a row, if I want to build an aqueduct or a hospital in a corrupt 1-shield city. I didn't find this to be addressed in the README, or did I miss it? If not, are there any plans to add an option "No, and don't dare to ask me that question again!" to the dialogbox? Or make that a preference? That would be real

[Soren_Johnson_Firaxis] patlasch: I don't think we are focusing on closing exploits anymore. I think we did that with the first couple patches, and with this patch we are sort of rebalancing to improve the fun.
