I've been suffering rather heavily from the common cold for two days, with the usual symptoms, a sore throat, endless coughing and sneezing and a stuffed nose.
I'd been feeling especially miserable today after work, but I went and bought three lemons on my way home and a couple of hours ago I juiced one lemon and mixed it with 1 liter of water, which I've since been sipping.
And whatta you know, I feel like I'm almost cured! Nose is back to normal, only slight soreness of throat, breathing considerably lighter, and no coughing or sneezing anymore.
It could be some psychological effect assisting, but I doubt it. It's the first time I've tried lemon against colds, and I didn't have very high expectations before trying it. But it works, this is no coincidence. My cold is going fast, and good riddance is all I can say.
I will go to bed shortly, get a good night's rest, and repeat the treatment tomorrow morning.
Really, I'm amazed at this.

The thread title suggests you posted this from your laptop while visiting the lavatory. Misleading.

Update:
Ok, so lemon does not instantly cure the common cold. But it does alleviate the symptoms of the common cold, and very effectively so.
It provided me with a trouble-free, good night's sleep, and when I brought another liter of lemonade to work this morning, it helped me make it through the day at least somewhat alive. My job is physically very demanding, and though I had to slow down a bit throughout the day compared to my normal days, I got the same tasks done with half an hour or so of overtime.
I'm now very tired and the symptoms (see OP) are out in full force again, no more, no less, but I've got my trusted lemonade by my side and will now set out to imbibe my third liter of this wonderful tonic.
Oh mighty lemon, do your thing..

It kept me from working today. Well I did go in, but I turned heels after 20 minutes. I couldn't breathe properly. If there is no improvement over the weekend, I'm seeing a doctor. Or a priest..

I figure 2 weeks. I too had constriction of my breathing. I have those Hot Hands hand warmers. Took one and taped it onto my T-shirt by my throat. Opened stuff up pretty good Winston, you should try it. Tended to get too hot though. Those things can give you a mild burn if you aren't careful. Also put lemon in tea and breathed the vapor then when it cooled drank the yea. That helps too.
