I picked up NHL 09 yesterday. Having a blast coming up as a defenseman in the Be A Pro mode. I joined a team last night as well and played a few games. Americans are terrible at this game when they are locked into a player, i've discovered. They play like 5 year olds, all chasing after the puck and never playing position. Did you pick one up yet Dave? I loved the Be A Pro equivalent in Madden a few years ago. Had a linebacker that was quite fun to play... but yes, a lot of people have a hard time not being in the center of the action while playing this style. I didn't mind, myself, because I had just as much fun dropping back and defending passes as blitzing ... The NHL 94 is for play against buddies. It's mostly nostalgia I think... You can pretty much always involve yourself in the play, so you aren't limited to whatever play your coach has chosen. I don't know why you'd hate faceoffs other than then getting too easy over time. I'm loving playing D. Set up the powerplay, join the rush when I want, lay on some big hits. It's got it all! I still don't see the allure for euros who don't know hockey to play hockey games? If you've played hockey or watch a lot of hockey, I think it makes the game more enjoyable. The demo's always there, I suppose.
