The helicopter skirted above the North Atlantic waves with the full moon shining above. A flicker of light could be seen in the distance.
"There it is" one of the passengers muttered.
"I can only see a light"
"Wait a moment"
As the helicopter reached its final destination it gained altitude. A colossal structure emerged from the shadows.
"My God, its huge!"
"It looks like a floating prison!"
"It's a death trap!"
"No, it's hell on earth...or on water at least"
"What did you expect, a petting zoo?"
They all grew silent as they approached. They were now at the peak of the flaming tower and began descending rapidly.
"Where will we fight?"
"On the helipad of course, where did you think?"
"I thought maybe in the tower..."
"And risk damaging the equipment?! It's worth more than a thousand of your lives" The others laughed weakly.
They hit the pad with a loud thump. The side door opened and they stepped out warily.
The pilot, who had uttered not a word since they took flight, took off his helmet and faced the departed.
"Welcome to the Infernal Platform, gentlemen"

The Gladiators
Grumpius Trollium II is the greenest and most eager of the lot. Never one to give up his ground, Grumpius tried to push Ludd out the side of the helicopter on the trip over because Ludd was taking up half of his seat. He only gave up when Ludd threatened to eat him. Grumpius is armed with a "Tri-Staff with 1.75 pound Mace Ball extendor's (each end has precisely balance extendor) with Eight-3 inch metal shards on each Maceball".
Little is known about Felchum except that he is not a coward and wears thick armor. He wields a puny saber that he bought at a flea market.
The morbidly obese and hairy Russian, Ludd, who adorns plate mail an inch thick. He carries no weapon, preferring to crush his opponent with his own bulk. No one can hold their gaze long when looking into his fiery eyes.
Sopwith Camel is a short shaggy chap who relies on his quick maneuvers and thrusts with his silver dagger. He is often heard muttering about a Baron who eats his peanuts...alas...the other fighters keep their distance.
Spacius Maximus is a veteran to the ring - and defeat, he has yet to win a championship. His armor shines as brightly as the full moon(which he claims to have visited) and his sword hangs unsheathed from his waist.
Theben is not new to the arena: He defeated Chaunk in the finals of Gladiator IV. His sword and armor flicker under the flaming tower.
The Doctor needs no introduction. The reigning champion and the winner of Gladiator III and V, his rapier strikes fear as well metal into his opponent's hearts.
Round Robbin
Each Gladiator will face off against every other contestant once for 2 combat rounds. The player with the most HP at the end of the 2nd round wins the match.
Each player will have one Match off.
For sake of brevity, we will play the following matches simultaneously:
Match 1 and 2
Match 3, 4, and 5
Match 6 and 7
The 4 players with the most points at the end of the round robbin will advance to the semi-finals.
The losers are rightfully fed to the sharks.
Scoring
You are awarded 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and receive 1 bonus point if you manage to knock out your opponent. No bonus points are given if both gladiators are knocked out.
Elimination Phase
The four gladiators that survive the Round Robbin face off in the semi-finals. The highest scorer will face the lowest scorer leaving the remaining two to fight each other.
The winners of the semi finals then fight in for the 'Poly crown in the final.
All matches in the Elimination Phase are to the death.

For two days helicopter after helicopter arrived at the platform. Wealthy oil men of various nationalities departed to watch the gore and place hefty bets. There were a couple Texan oil barons and a half dozen other Americans, 2 Brits, a slew of Arabs, and a dozen Chinese. The last to arrive was a South American donning a fake beard and sunglasses who bore a remarkable resemblance to Hugo Chavez.
On the third day the helipad was closed and a donut shaped tent was erected around the perimeter. Comfortable chairs and tables were set up inside so as to give a clear view of the ring. There were two bars set up on opposite sides of the ring, and food would be brought up from below.

ok, but what would you start a "no show" point wise at?
Just sharing
or would it be a disqualification?
