'insert cd2 cd'

Inflate your Upload Space

i keep getting the message 'insert cd2 cd' after i've chosen all my options and tried to start the game, it then goes black and exits to the desktop and displays the message. it did this with the plain installation and then when i applied the latest appolyton patch. what's wrong and how can i fix it?
is the problem as simple as there's a second cd i'm missing? i downloaded the game so if it's just that i'm missing the second cd then sorry :-$

Actually it is supposed to say:

"Put your Call to Power 2 CD in your CD-ROM drive."

CD is repeated. So you have to insert the game CD. The one you have bought.

Actually, I didn't want to be more explicit about it, but you won't find here a no-CD crack. This is a fan site, and not a piracy site.

Actually, since the game source code is already available to the public, a nocd patch would be more of a convenience than piracy at this point.

The source code is available to the public, that is a difference to open source, Activision released the source code with an End User License Agreement (EULA), not under a GPL. From the EULA:

From the CTP2 source code EULA
New Game Materials may be created only if such New Game Materials can be used exclusively in combination with the retail version of Call to Power II. New Game Materials may not be designed to be used as a stand-alone product.

Surely this means that you need the data from the CD, whether you need the CD while you are playing is open to interpretation. We have chosen to interpret it so that we are on the save side. Which means that you need the CD for playing.

If you cannot compile your own version of CTP2 then it is your problem.
