A solution for factions graphics bug, you can do either 1 or 2:
1) edit "alpha centauri.ini" where factions are substituted:
Faction 1=BELIEVE
Faction 2=ANGELS
Faction 3=HIVE
Faction 4=PIRATES
Faction 5=SPARTANS
Faction 6=UNIV
Faction 7=DRONE
2) start a new game and select factions as listed above in that order. The game will update the list automatically in the ini file.
Bodissey, could you send your outgoing turn to Believers to me also? You are using a mac, and I would like to try if it opens in windows ok.

Hi guys, I was able to open and play the turn ok, but when it came time to (end turn) save and ext. It kept bouncing back... again i would click save and exit, but it wouldn't let me. eventually i would have to just hit escape. i played the turn again, doing the same movements as i did prevoiusly, but again, had the same problem. I'm not sure what to do.

Now I remember. It's file path name problem. Macintosh uses symbols that windows cannot accept.
Bodissey, could you open your save and then for test save it in your root folder. In windows, I would do it directly on c:\
I'm not sure on your computer... The idea is to avoid long path name.
then attach the save here or send in an email. Thanks.

It still doesn't work.
I attach a link to a webpage, where they explain differences between Mac OS and Windows file and folder paths:
http://www.zeusprod.com/technote/filepath.html
The idea is that your mac machine uses a path containing only one symbol ":"
I'm not sure if that would work, maybe.
E.g. now in the recent file i can read the file path:
LaCie disk:Fabulous 2:Jeux:Alpha Centauri & Alien Cro#7150:Sauvegarde:Bel2102 _Believers_2102
Is your hard drive named LaCie disk?

Bodissey, let's try the following. Attached is a short game with two human players.
Believers - password - b
Angels - password - d
Place unzipped save file in the root folder, so its path is:
LaCie disk:Angels_to_m_2134
not in the save folder in the installation folder.
load the save from root folder
then you can right away end turn.
save it again in the root folder of your hard drive. computer may prompt for it right away or it can ask you to save it in the game save folder -> but then browse all the way back to hard drive root folder. you can also change name so not to override the file you loaded.
then send it by email or attach here.
some explanation.
Multiplayer games are encrypted. in one place I can see the path that is not encrypted, but there may be encrypted path somewhere in the file. So when I edit the readable one, this does not help. it's only my guess, but maybe we will get it work.
Edit: file removed

Well, I was just browsing the forum for solution, but someone has already tried root folder.
However, they solved the problem in other way, just trying it now...

I sent a zip with exe to SmacxVeteran.
However the zip needed renaming to .z - before extracting you need to rename it back to .zip
you can also download it from the post:
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthre...225#post4303225
The corrected file is also attached, in case the exe doesn't work. then we make a new exe.
Bodissey, I have to leave now, but will be back in a few hours. Then I'll send you the exe, but actually you can download it from the link also. It is for windows, so for mac it will not work afaik. There is code in c though so it can be compiled on mac
