As we have approximately two weeks to go before the set-up is finished, and team civilization choices have to be made I thought it about time we started to talk about how this process should occur and what things are allowed......
Do we submit each teams top three civilization choices, and any duplications are decided randomly by CyberShy, the mapmaker??
Do we allow multiple instances of the same civilization??
Do we go for a random civilization for each team??
Any other suggestions??? This is an open discussion, so please lets have as many opinions as possible.......

My personal opinion is that we should allow multiple instances of the same civilization if they happen to occur...

I don't know, if duplicates of civ/leaders are allowed, we could see half of us playing the same civ/leader, which would kind of defeat the point of UU / UB.

Does this not just become another in-game issue for the teams to deal with?

Isn't this really a choice of leaders, rather than civs? That way we can have only one leader but we can have more than one civ twice or such, if it is possible. To make that much clearer, snce it does look confusing, I would say that we should have multiple civs allowed, but have unique leaders. I consider the choice of leader different from the choice of civ.

If we can only have one of each leader in the game - then how do you determine who gets first choice?
Considering the kind of map we have - "water" leaders/civs may be very popular.
If more than one team chooses Willem (for the traits and the water benefits) how do you propose we make that decision in a fair and equitable manner?

Leave that for the Map Maker then.

That was for the case of teams choosing the same leader. That was his question and my anwer to it.

If we submit each teams top 3 or top 5 choices to CyberShy by PM.
If there are any duplicate leaders he could roll a dice to decide. Highest score wins, fair and square.....

I think it might be easier to run a first round with a single leader preference then see how many duplicate leaders we have, and take it from there: one duplicate out of seven doesn't seem too lacking in variety to me, but seven Sitting Bulls might be a bit OTT.

Any more thoughts on this, either as individual players or as teams opinions??

I don't like multiple leaders too.

Can I suggest we have the following ruling on the matter :
Multiple civs are allowed, but each civ must have a unique leader.
Teams are to submit top 5 leader choices to CyberShy by PM
If there are any duplicate leaders he could roll a dice to decide. Highest score wins, fair and square.....
If there are no objections I will forward this ruling on to CyberShy, the mapmaker, on Sunday 13th April at 10.00 GMT.....
