Rules:
- A player may not restart a turn without good reason. The player should specify the reason in the game thread if he was not able to avoid reloading the turn. (Obviously, if a player has suffered some sort of crash during a turn, such a reload is unavoidable)
- A player is not permitted to establish contact with another faction prior to having met them in-game.
- If a player performs a probe team action other than to infiltrate against another player with whom (s)he is in a truce, treaty or pact, they must inform the probed player what it was they did and what they stole/sabotaged. They must also choose the 'declare vendetta/cancel pact' option when they perform the action.
- A player is not permitted to make more than one social engineering change per line, per turn. For instance, one is not permitted to start the turn in wealth, switch to power mid-turn for the extra disbanded minerals, and then switch back to wealth that same turn, getting the refund.
- A player is not permitted to use the 'demand withdrawal' feature against another player, leaving the AI the decision of whether to withdraw or not.
- A player may not accept a bribe from another player's AI during council sessions.
- A player may not perform multiple airdrops in a single turn with the same unit using the right-click menu.
- A player may not use the F4 screen when infiltrated to change an opponent's workers to specialists.
- If a player declares vendetta upon another player, either directly or indirectly, they must not accept a pending diplomatic agreement between the two factions in the same turn.
- A player may not upgrade a particular type of unit using the design workshop, and then attack with that unit in the same turn.
- A player may not make air drops using the right click "air drop to" function, when it is not possible to do so with the "i" button, ie. after already having moved or made a drop.
- A player may not trade technologies with other players
- Copters cannot attack bases
- Players agree NOT to trade technologies between themselves or with AI in any arrangement, e.g. also tech for energy etc.
Notes:
- There is a problem with technology choices in multiplayer games. The choices are limited when choosing the first tech. The most effected player is The Hive, which cannot choose Centauri Ecology. As I remember now, there is no known solution to this. I remember discussion about it, but could not find. What I was able to do for Hive is pre-select Centauri Ecology in 2100 in the F2 screen, when I was setting passwords. However, it is important, that if Hive player click the tech icon on the F2 screen any time during this many turns to researching Centauri Ecology, he will not be able to select Centauri Ecology again.

You mean you have Planetary Pack, that has both classic SMAC and SMAX?
Everyone should play SMAC (classic) I have to check if you can open smac multiplayer in smax, but if saved in smax version a game cannot be opened in smac - different format
also you should have smac version 5.0 - you get it after patching smac or smax Planetary Pack with XP compatibility patch - it fixes some bugs, i don't remember which ones particularly, but quite important ones.

We have some confusion.
Turns should be sent in the order:
Gaians->Hive->Univ->Morgan->Gaians
bdanv->wdplays->Kataphraktoi->SmartFart->bdanv
Wdplays and Kataphraktoi, if you have something unusual with your turns, send those that you received to me - my email is in first post.
Thank you

I am not sure how it happened that after Hive turn it prompts for Morgan turn. I have tested the turn once again and it worked ok with university in the right place.
Wdplays, do you have changes in your alpha.txt file? But even then, the faction order should be correct, since I created it with standard order.
This is faction order in my alpha.txt:
#FACTIONS
GAIANS, GAIANS
HIVE, HIVE
UNIV, UNIV
MORGAN, MORGAN
SPARTANS, SPARTANS
BELIEVE, BELIEVE
PEACE, PEACE
=======
We are working on resolving the problem...

SmartFart,
It's most probably Kataphraktoi's turn, initial or mid. This happens when you save it instead of hitting end-turn button. It is easy to make when you play singleplayer and multi.
or it may be the turn from hive - it was described as morgans
I'll write pm to Kataphraktoi.

By retroengineering you mean getting rover chassis from probe team before having Doctrine: Mobility? In other cases retroengineering would be allowed?

What's your opinion about it?
I vote against all of them. |
I vote in favor of queuing stockpile energy. Otherwise, people playing builder get a fairly large advantage over folks playing hybrid or conqueror. In case you're not aware, having an empty build cue following a facility build gives the same effect as stockpiling energy behind a unit build. In my opinion, it unbalances the game if you don't allow it.
As for trading bases with the AI, I don't have a preference. I only do this if I conquer a base I really don't want to keep, so I can adjust either way.
As for retroengineering, I'm like mart7X5. I need a better explanation.

There are a hundred things not on the rulelists. Stockpile energy is usually accepted, retro engineering is not, and base trading is allowed(all imo) I vote pro stockpile energy bug.
I always consider exploits and bugs in the way they are used compared to the games intentions. Its very clear that doctrine mobility is required for constructing rovers and not planetary networks-therefore getting rovers from probe teams is an exploit, one i wouldnt use.
In the same light, trading a size 1 base for a size 12 with SPs is a cheat and exploit, and should go without saying. Does it really need to be prohibited? A prohibition implies people would be willing to do so without a limit.
