GENERAL: Cafe "Tamerlin" II
Our famous cafe after 6 months of successful service has been moved into a new location, Apolyton avenue and CtP2 Source Code boulevard corner, downtown.
As always we serve fresh jokes, crazy stories and lot of fun
You can bring your own coffee, cookies, beer and whiskey
This cafe has been named after Tamerlin, a regular member of this forum, for reminding us that there is a 500 post limit
The next cafe will be named after the member, who will begin the most interesting discussion in this thread, after a vote, wich will take place after post 450 and will last up to post 500.
To remind you why this thread exists:
You can post here, anything that you shouldn't post in this forum, generally everything straightly unrelated but related some how with this community and its residents. Do not post news and events from around the world. There is a more appropriate forum for this sort of things: Off-Topic
The purpose of this thread is to have a break, some chat & fun and get familiar to each other.
Note that the Apolyton Forum Rules apply here as well so avoid spam, troll or flame of any kind and behave well
Have fun

I have been drinking scotch and coke, slowly decreasing the coke measures, thus, what is your favourite drink? Therefore methinks i win the most ineresting discussion
Or if thats not on topic or whatever, what is the solution to preventing a human to "learning" an AI?

I'm certainly not a programmer but I think (if it is possible) that we give the AI varying types of strategies (economic, scientific, warmonger, etc) and have it adjust based what the civ's personality is and how the game progresses. This would also requiring balancing powers. Like an economic would have to have something to deter war mongers etc. The AI would adjust or pursue a path to keep the human off balance.
This might also require the player to select certain presets at the game start, like picking what advantages to give the AI as opposed to lumping it in diety etc (i.e. a separate set of combat bonuses, economic, or scientific) based on what you feel your strengths or weaknesses are and then set the AI up for success to match your strengths.
the other option is make the AI very "patchable" so those dedicated few can keep updating it
Bartender, another bushmills and coke please...

I remember two Scottish colleagues of mine, who would have hung you for that sentence alone. Even if you didn't mix it. But to have Scotch as a paragon of purity together with a sugar and chemical infested beverage, which is on top of all even yankish, is something like a sacrilege and comes right after drinking Scotch "on the rocks".
There, now I have dropped my handbag.

You want a single Scottish malt whiskey on its own ( I hope your not drinking bells) isn’t that right Sir Ralph.
.
The only exception to this rule is in milk when you have a cold.

I remember we were out one evening, bowling with our scottish friends. They ordered whiskey. The waiter asked which one. They answered "the best you have". He brought Jack Daniels. They almost killed him.

Sometimes one should know when he has to shut up... I never know.
To answer Maq's question I must admit my favorite drink is the Suze, a French bitter alcool made from a mountain flower named Gentiane, a real delicacy (the alcool... not the flower).
I appreciate good beers and Whisky (alone, without ice) though.

I like to drink some sweet red wine with my meal, some beer like Haineken or Mythos when I go out or some scotts on the rocks when the ticket is expensive
I also used to drink some ouzo or sabuca from time to time but I haven't for some time now.
But the best drink of all time is..... water

I had saved this one on a special place, because it's funny. By the way, even in this example the JD is described ... as paint stripper.

I have another question for you Peter, are the CtP2 and Civ: CtP SLIC functions so close that the CtP2 Updater2 could work with Civ: CtP if new arrays are entered?
I would like to give Civ: CtP another chance with the Apolyton Pack but I must admit that without an Updater I am still reluctant.

No, SLIC1 in CTP was very different and much less powerful than SLIC2 in CTP2 is. You should be able to write something analagous the updater, but it certainly wouldn't just be a copy/paste type operation.

Hey a new Cafe thread
I'd just like to take this opportunity to b*tch about the weather in the UK.
We've had some really great days recently - lots of sun so i take a week of work to go visit a few old friends and family.
It rains really hard every one of the seven days
Then i get back and the next day its back to nearly 20 degrees and fantastic sunshine all day!
The sooner they build a huge dome over the whole country the better(i imagine it looking like the city shield thing from CTP2 - just bigger ).
just had to get it off my chest - one tankard of Mead please new barman

Thanks for your reply J Bytheway. I suppose someone would have done it if it had been possible.

It's the pollution the worked it out that the car fumes actually seed the rain for the weekend. Even the weather works on a seven day cycle.

How does that work? any more info as it sounds kinda wierd - cars causing rain?
I like to think the odd weather patterns we get these days(compared to say 10 years ago), are somehow tied in with the (IMO) sad state of the games industry. I bet if we could get to the truth, we would find infogreed/Atari at the root of all troubles They want us to stay indoors to play those expensive to make and awfull cookie-cutter movie tie-in console games
oh its raining again.......... Damn you mega-publishers! leave those kids alone!

Particles from the car fumes go up into the atmosphere then they combine with the water vapour and increase the raindrop size until gravity takes over.
