GENERAL IDEAS: Civ in space
Tomek Piorkowski:
- Alien races, once space has been colonised.
Christopher Fowler:
- Hmm...seems a lot of people want Civilization in space. Just have
Microprose add an option to have Civ III segue into Master of Orion II.
Quite frankly it sounds like these people want another type of game besides
Civilization.
P.J. McQuinn:
- How ever I feel that a lot of the mods
you talk about can already happen by modifing the rules.txt. Want to play
in space? Play MOO2! they have most of the stuff your contributers are
talking about! besides sid meir deliberately stated that they made space
colonisation the point so that the game would end.
George Fisher:
- I think that Civilization III would be best if you could have more
interactiverty with other planets, so you can build cities on several different planets.
Murray Robinson:
- Galactic Empires Suggestion for CIV3
Civ3 shouldn't stop when you have established a colony on Alpha
Centauri. Civ3 should continue and allow you to build a galactic empire
by exploring new planets, colonizing them, trading etc. Of course there
would be new Alien races that you could discover and fight with. This
adds a new challenge for the victorious but jaded Deity who has long ago
conquered the earth. It would also be logical to allow players to
colozine Mars. Perhaps with a new terraforming tech that would allow a
new class of terraforming engineers and colonists. The Galactic Empire
game should also define large numbers of new high technologies with
appropriate new units, wonders and city improvements. Random events such
as meteorite storms, radiation clouds in space, earthquakes in cities
etc could also be fun.
John Hutchison:
- I think that once you get to space you should be able to colonize another planet.
Uzi Levin:
- Why stop at stealth? Make another wonder at the end of the game- the
star wars program. I’m not talking just about SDI defense- I’m talking
about spaceships battling each other over out of Earth resources, and
laser bombardments by these spaceships at targets on Earth. I also
suggest that cities will be able to build spy satellites that will
reveal all the other armies and cities status. These satellites will
have a short life span.
- (CIVILIZATION III in space) If you have the budget I suggest a whole different
game in civilization 3. The beginning should be a short movie in which the end of
civilization 2 will be told- all 7 civilizations sent space ships that started
colonizing on seven different planets.
Meanwhile, Earth was destroyed by an atomic war and all life on Earth were extinct.
The seven civilizations start over than, with all the science that was
in the end of civilization 2, this time the seven civilizations will be
able to build spaceships that will act as transports, science will
advance slowly and advances will be about discovering new components and
new space ships parts, because all the scientists died on Earth. After a
certain period these components will be assembled and create a new space
ship, which will be the space version of the destroyer. With new
advances bigger and more powerful spaceships will be built. These
components will be built in cities like they were on civilization 2. The
different civilizations will be able to invade enemy planets by a space
transport (the knowledge for building a transport is already known by
all civilizations) that will carry troops and/or engineers that will
build cities and so they will be able to have their own inter-planetary war.
When coming to a new planet you can use your own imagination- build
volcanoes, toxic gazes, radiation that will effect the citizens, maybe
different governments and tax rates to different planets. Super Nova’s,
asteroids etc. Once a civilization conquers all the rest of the civilizations it should
face a new enemy- alien species. If you really do civilization 3 in space,
you must make the galactic map in 3 D , because- well, you know.
One of the goals of the game will be to find Earth and then recolonize
it (the radiation on Earth is over by then.).
I believe that people will like this game because finding new star
systems and then exploring them could be fun.
Casey Reinhard:
- I would suggest that once you've reached space, you should be able to continue
building on space and on earth. This would improve all aspects of the game itself.
Erik Törnquist:
- Space! Before getting to another star
(which I think you´ll need of more advanced technology) you should also be
able to colonize the moon and neighbour planets. If you send a colony
to Mars you´ll get more profit. Let´s say, 50% improved science and 50% improved income.
(maybe this could be a new wonder?).
