VIKING SCRIBE #17

The honourable empire of the vikings was a peacefull one. The vikings decided to live a life of peace and harmony. Founding only one city they were no threat to anyone and through a history of 5000 years only one regiment (a regiment of settlers) was killed by the EVIL SCUMBAG CARTHAGINIANS. For 5000 years the vikings sat peacefully in their great city of REYKJAVIK getting on well with their neighbors and minding their own business. But towards the end of the twentieth century a great struggle was reaching it's climax.

The two great empires of the CELTS and the AZTECS were at loggerheads. The AZTECS had the better of the conflict and celtic city after celtic city fell. We, the vikings, saw the behaviour of the AZTECS and were convinced of the intention of the AZTECS to conquer the world decided to act to save the CELTS. There was only so much that could be done by putting peacefull FREIGHT regiments on the approaches that the AZTECS used to kill the CELTS. So more drastic measures were deemed to be nessisary. A great plan was hatched. The plan was to smuggle eight regiments each of Viking CAVALRY and RIFLEMEN through the AZTEC empire to their capital TENOCHTITLAN and to capture it, thus causing confusion in the ranks of the AZTEC preisthood. The problem was that Tenochtitlan was on the other side of the world from Reykjavik. But the all important land bridge was there. The only improvement needed was to build a few rail bypasses around large AZTEC cities and fortresses to, peacefully enough, ease the congestion on AZTEC roads. This job was completed in a record time by the only Viking Engineer for a reduced price (we had to get the AZTECS to ask for it anyway).

Then (after the army was built) the expedition started. As the Viking Empire was a democracy (all one city of it) the public was waylayed by the production of 'HAMLET' and 'MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING' at the city's SHAKESPEARS THEATER, thus the families and friend of the army had nothing to worry about, anyway the army was officially 'ON VACATION IN FRIENDLY TERRITORY'. The army led by SPY1(veteran) and SPY2(not a veteran) snaked it's way through the AZTEC territory with varied excuses like "honest guv' at home we really use CAVALRY to hunt ducks" and "how can you NOT call a group of 3000 heavily armed men a hunting party!" the army was sneaked through checkpoints and ZOCs by SPY1 and SPY2 all the way to the other side of the world to TENOCHTITLAN. Viewing the great CITY WALLS of the AZTEC capital SPY1 and SPY2 promptly placed a few strategic charges and a breach was made in the walls, thus letting the Viking CAVALRY in to the city slaughtering all armed men within. The HIGH PRIEST of the AZTECS was caught and in the sucession struggle two factions emerged, the SIOUX and the AZTECS. The CELTS were saved from certain anialation and none of the empires could now threaten the peacefull Vikings. The the quest for the stars could begin...(while of course the CELTS, AZTECS and SIOUX killed each other instead of bothering to reach for the stars)
