Civilization II for the Macintosh is one of the most efficient modern games I have played, it is a nice change of pace in this era where every game developer seems to believe that the typical player has the fastest PPC machines.
However, even Civ II slows down in some instances. Here is how to get the most bang for the MHz.
- Bump up your Disk Cache. This is done in the Memory control Panel. Set it
to something like 256 K or higher if you have enough RAM available (Note: this
will decrease your available RAM but you'll see a significant improvement in all
of your machine's operations.- Trash or remove the Civilopedia application. When you run the game, a built in less
fancy version will be available that runs a lot faster. Look in the Civilization II files
folder.- Turn off the throne room (under the graphics options).
- Check the fast piece slide option.
- Do as large an install as you can and play without the CD.
Hopefully, these suggestion will help make your gaming experience more enjoyable.
