ACSR WEEKEND
|
|
When Apolyton Civilization Site Radio's (ACSR) ACSR Daily re-launched on July 12th, 2002 alongside ACSR Weekly with shows retroactive to July 8th, Daily became a strictly weekday entity while weekend coverage -- compiled into a single show airing the following Monday -- would fall under the ACSR Weekend banner. Weekend's first season began with a July 07th edition and ran for just eleven episodes ending with a September 14th show: all ACSR production was to be halted until May 2003.
SEASON 2 of Weekend kicked off with a May 3rd, 2003 edition. A day after the release of the August 30th episode, the season's eighteenth, this series along with Daily was extended into September for the first time. An October extension for both timely followed. Extensions seemed to becoming the norm when November and December shows were ordered at once, and then even less surprisingly January and February 2004 on the eve of the New Year. What followed then was unexpected. Details follow below, but in short Weekend was retired as of March 1st. Its second and final season episode count was and still is a decent 44.
The first formal opinion poll put to Apolyton's registered forum users in late January 2004 put the futures of both Weekend and Daily on the 'popularity line'. 48% of the 42 users who cast ballots voted in favour of dropping Daily but continuing Weekend broadcasts. The ACSR administration elected to 'look beyond the numbers' which showed fondness towards Daily in a capacity not anticipated: many accompanying comments asked for Weekend broadcasts to encompass the previous seven days' worth of news and not just Saturday's and Sunday's. In response, the last Weekend and Daily broadcasts came at months end -- February 28th, 2004 specifically for Weekend.
Since the launch of ACS' official podcast (and now podcasts), PolyCast, in October 2006, the purpose of Weekend has been included within it and considerably beyond.

SEASON 2 (May 2003-February 2004)
|
All forty-four episodes that made up the second and final season of this series have been successfully archived throughout the years. By 2005, few if any of these installments were still available for listening live on-demand: this would not change until September 2006.
Hosted by Apolyton CS Co-Owner/Administrator Daniel "DanQ" Quick, these editions are available for streaming at 24kbps. Originally served in RealAudio format, as was all of ACSR's offerings for much of its history to date, they have since been converted into the more conventional and accessible MP3 format.
